Polyurethane is a mate­r­ial in demand world­wide and is classed as a plas­tic or synthetic resin. Differ­ent types of plas­tic can be produced, depend­ing on manu­fac­tur­ing method, making it a really versa­tile mate­r­ial. PU foams, for exam­ple, are suit­able for ther­mal insu­la­tion, polyurethane is used in the auto­mo­tive, construc­tion and textile indus­tries and is a compo­nent of adhe­sives and paints as well, and even many soccer balls are made of it. The type of plas­tic produced and its prop­er­ties depend primar­ily on the choice of precur­sors isocyanate and polyol used.
