The chem\u00adi\u00adcal has been known for more than 200&nbsp;years, yet it is more up-to-date and in demand than ever before. This is because hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide is a&nbsp;completely natural, green prod\u00aduct that occurs natu\u00adrally, for exam\u00adple, in rain\u00adwa\u00adter or snow, and even in the human body. When it decom\u00adposes, only water and oxygen are produced; there are no envi\u00adron\u00admen\u00adtally harm\u00adful byprod\u00aducts. The bleach\u00ading effect of hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide is harnessed here. But it can do so much more. Hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide has a&nbsp;disin\u00adfec\u00adtant, antibac\u00adte\u00adr\u00adial effect and elim\u00adi\u00adnates odors, which is why it can be used as a&nbsp;clean\u00ading agent at home, and also to disin\u00adfect wounds.<\/p>\n<p>However, the versa\u00adtile green chem\u00adi\u00adcal is in partic\u00adu\u00adlarly high demand in a&nbsp;wide range of indus\u00adtrial sectors \u2014 from the paper indus\u00adtry to the food, phar\u00adma\u00adceu\u00adti\u00adcal and cosmet\u00adics indus\u00adtries, and even in elec\u00adtron\u00adics. Hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide is also increas\u00adingly used in (waste) water treat\u00adment, as a&nbsp;reagent in chem\u00adi\u00adcal synthe\u00adses and even as rocket fuel.<\/p>\n<p>Hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide is produced for indus\u00adtry in concen\u00adtra\u00adtions rang\u00ading from 3&nbsp;to as much as 98 percent. Depend\u00ading on the appli\u00adca\u00adtion, the chem\u00adi\u00adcal is used either alone or in combi\u00adna\u00adtion with other substances such as iron ions, UV radi\u00ada\u00adtion or ozone, in which case it has an even more power\u00adful effect.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"is-layout-flex wp-container-19 wp-block-columns\" id=\"h2o22\">\n<div class=\"is-layout-flow wp-block-column\" style=\"flex-basis:8.333%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"is-layout-flow wp-block-column\" style=\"flex-basis:58.333%\">\n<h5>How is hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide produced?<\/h5>\n<p>Hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide is primar\u00adily produced from hydro\u00adgen and oxygen in the so-called <a href=\"https:\/\/elements.evonik.com\/research-and-innovation\/how-h2o2-is-produced\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">autox\u00adi\u00adda\u00adtion process<\/a>. The key element of this process is the so-called work\u00ading solu\u00adtion in which the reac\u00adtions take place. The process consists of three steps: hydro\u00adgena\u00adtion, oxida\u00adtion and extraction.<\/p>\n<p>First, hydro\u00adgen is added to the work\u00ading solu\u00adtion and combines with this reac\u00adtion medium. The second step involves atmos\u00adpheric oxygen being pumped into the work\u00ading solu\u00adtion under pres\u00adsure, produc\u00ading hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide. This is then extracted with the addi\u00adtion of water. This produces a&nbsp;35 to 50 percent aque\u00adous solu\u00adtion, which can then be processed in several steps using steam, among other things.<\/p>\n<p>Good to know: the work\u00ading solu\u00adtion in the plant is the same at the end of the hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide produc\u00adtion process as it was at the begin\u00adning. There\u00adfore, it can theo\u00adret\u00adi\u00adcally be used indef\u00adi\u00adnitely. However, to ensure that reac\u00adtions proceed smoothly and safely, it must be puri\u00adfied regu\u00adlarly.
