M<\/span>ichael Tr\u00e4xler, head of Evonik\u2019s Active Oxygens Busi\u00adness Line, believes \u201ccollab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion with customers and part\u00adners is key\u201d. This is espe\u00adcially true as far as becom\u00ading more sustain\u00adable<\/a> or climate neutral<\/a> is concerned. When the produc\u00adtion and appli\u00adca\u00adtions exper\u00adtise of collab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtive part\u00adners is pooled, good ideas are gener\u00adated and the pace of prod\u00aduct devel\u00adop\u00adment picks up. This bene\u00adfits both the compa\u00adnies concerned and the environment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When exper\u00adtise meets perse\u00adver\u00adance and vision<\/h5>\n

We at Evonik Active Oxygens have long recog\u00adnized this and collab\u00ado\u00adrate with part\u00adners and customers at many levels. We develop inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive, resource-effi\u00adcient solu\u00adtions as a team, and have been doing so for decades. For exam\u00adple, the HPPO process<\/a> together with ThyssenK\u00adrupp Indus\u00adtrial Solu\u00adtions and the HPPG process<\/a> together with Dow. These new processes deliver plenty of sustain\u00adabil\u00adity bene\u00adfits. They reduce CO2<\/sub><\/a> emis\u00adsions, require fewer raw mate\u00adri\u00adals, and avoid unwanted byproducts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to our joint prod\u00aduct devel\u00adop\u00adment capa\u00adbil\u00adity, we can offer our customers a sustain\u00adable and at the same time cost-effec\u00adtive process from a single source that combines special\u00adist knowl\u00adedge of chem\u00adi\u00adcals, produc\u00adtion processes, and plant engi\u00adneer\u00ading,\u201d says J\u00fcrgen Schemel, Head of Prod\u00aduct Manage\u00adment & Tech\u00adnol\u00adogy, Inno\u00adva\u00adtion & Sustain\u00adabil\u00adity at thyssenkrupp.<\/p>\n

Another exam\u00adple is waste\u00adwater treat\u00adment through Advanced Oxida\u00adtion Processes<\/a> (AOP): Indus\u00adtrial waste\u00adwater can be chem\u00adi\u00adcally treated<\/a> using a combi\u00adna\u00adtion of hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide, ozone, and UV light. This process is much more energy effi\u00adcient than, for exam\u00adple, the conven\u00adtional prac\u00adtice of incin\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion, and leaves no harm\u00adful traces in the envi\u00adron\u00adment. Collab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtive ventures that result in prod\u00aducts and tech\u00adnolo\u00adgies like these require vision and perse\u00adver\u00adance. We have both at Evonik Active Oxygens. And we are only too happy to contribute both in other collab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtive ventures. \u201cWe analyze what chal\u00adlenges we are set to face in 10 or 20 years together with our collab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtive part\u00adners. We then launch specific projects based on these analy\u00adses,\u201d Tr\u00e4xler explains. \u201cThat way, we can solve prob\u00adlems early on \u2012 rather than when they arise. So, we need to look now at what will be on the agenda in 2050, for example.\u201d<\/p>\n

Our experts are currently work\u00ading with part\u00adners around the world on a large number of ventures and research projects. The aim is not only to develop new appli\u00adca\u00adtions and tech\u00adnolo\u00adgies but also to further improve logis\u00adtics and safety measures. All process steps at a glance<\/h5>\n

Rethink\u00ading processes together to become more sustain\u00adable \u2012 this also applies to our own processes, as well as processes upstream of our produc\u00adtion. One impor\u00adtant topic is the produc\u00adtion of green hydro\u00adgen<\/a>, for which we need compe\u00adtent, reli\u00adable part\u00adners, who can supply us with the right prod\u00aducts at the right loca\u00adtion. We have also been able to expe\u00addite the decen\u00adtral\u00adized produc\u00adtion of hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide<\/a> through our invest\u00adment in Danish start-up HPNow<\/a>. The company builds plants based on a patented tech\u00adnol\u00adogy that allows low-concen\u00adtra\u00adtion hydro\u00adgen perox\u00adide to be produced directly from water and elec\u00adtric\u00adity on the customer\u2019s premises as required. This elim\u00adi\u00adnates the need for trans\u00adporta\u00adtion and stor\u00adage, for example.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Join\u00ading forces to drive sustain\u00adable appli\u00adca\u00adtions forward<\/h5>\n

As our prod\u00aducts are able to demon\u00adstrate their strengths to the full in the context of sustain\u00adable appli\u00adca\u00adtions, these projects with part\u00adners are enabling us to break new ground. Currently under\u00adway are a number of projects, in which we are work\u00ading together on the full produc\u00adtion process \u2014 from our start\u00ading prod\u00aducts to new appli\u00adca\u00adtions. We intend to continue expand\u00ading this devel\u00adop\u00admen\u00adtal work in the future. This way, we are increas\u00ading the speed at which new tech\u00adnolo\u00adgies and ideas are help\u00ading to drive sustain\u00adabil\u00adity forward.<\/p>\n
